Advocates are working to abolish juvenile fees and fines in Pennsylvania. In 2023, Pennsylvania introduced SB 752 and HB 1381, which are both omnibus bills that eliminate all fines and fees in the juvenile justice system except for a $10 restitution fee. HB 1381 also wouldn't allow youth to be charged in juvenile court for failure to pay summary offense fees in municipal court. In 2016, the Philadelphia City Council passed a resolution that eliminated detention/child support fees. To learn more or join the campaign, contact us at [email protected].
