Advocates are working to abolish juvenile fees and fines in Wisconsin. In 2020, the Dane County (Madison) Board of Supervisors canceled all existing debt and discontinued the collection of shelter home fees and social worker supervision program fees. In 2019, the Board eliminated fees charged to families for home detention. In 2018, the Board eliminated “cost of care" fees charged to families when their children are in county detention.
